Range cookers are avialable in many different sizes, colours, styles and fuel types each being more suited to individual circumstances. Range Cooker Fuel Types

The first thing to consider when choosing to buy a new cooker is the fuel type, fuel types are usually dual fuel (gas hob with electric ovens), natural gas, LPG or all electric (ceramic and Induction hobs).

Dual Fuel, Natural Gas & LPG Range Cookers

If you prefer using a gas hob these are obviously the choice for you, gas hobs provide instant heat allowing you to quickly heat up the pan to temparature so your timing isnt off. Most people go for one of these three options, the duel fuel version is most popular as most people prefer having the Natural Gas / LPG hobs with electric ovens giving you both power and efficiency.

Ceramic Range Cookers

The standard electric hob with electric ovens, this type of range cooker is often cheaper than their counterparts although some believe they look alot more stylish, ceramic is thought to be less efficient when it comes to heating up pans and such but is very useful for those without a gas supply to the kitchen.

Induction Range Cookers

Induction is the only electric hob that can give gas a genuine run for its money. Although initially expensive induction hobs are as responsive as gas, as fast to heat up (if not faster) and a joy to cook with. Because induction hobs generate heat in the pan the surface of the hob remains mostly cool and any heat is that which has come off the pan making them extra safe.

As range cookers aren't cheap we feel that making the right choice in terms of style and design is important. These cookers are built to last and can stay within family homes for many years, upto and over 20 years in some cases.

Range cookers range between 90cm and 150cm, although there are some mini range cookers available from certain manufacturers that are more suited to smaller kitchens. Depending on the size of cooker you are purchasing the oven layout can differ quite drastically, some cookers having only a single oven and gril combined while others can have upto three ovens with a separate grill in an array of different configurations. 90cm range cookers tend to have a tall oven on the right hand side that is always powered by electric even when the cooker states to be all gas, this is simply because gas isn't efficient enough to heat that volume of spaced well enough.

Range Cooker Colours

Range cookers can vary in colour emmensely, however the most popular colours tend to be black, cream and stainless steel. Some manufacturers produce bright coloured range cookers to add that extra bit of panache some people like to see in a range cooker for their family home. Generally speaking there are only two different styles in the range cooker world, traditional and contemporary, each having many variations in terms of design, oven layout and finish. Traditional range cookers suit the old cottage styled kitchens while in the more modern world the contemporary cooker is becoming more and more popular as kitchen are playing a more dominant role in the every day lives of the modern family.
